The bottom line: A firm grip on all aspects.

METROPLAN PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT offers the full spectrum of planning and realisation services for constructing, expanding and optimising plants and factories. We use proven methods in conjunction with reliable and established planning and project management tools. We select the most suitable methods for your individual project or optimally adapt our methods to your specific conditions.

New factories and plant expansions

When it comes to designing and planning new plants and factories, or expanding existing ones, we undertake the planning of all areas involved – from defining the planning basis up to the dimensioning and layout planning and all the way through to the actual realisation phase. In addition to production and production logistics, this includes all of the supportive processes as well as planning the employee and office spaces. We develop and plan construction measures as a general planner with our own architects or integrate external building planners and experts as needed.

An extensive expansion process usually necessitates relocating, redesigning or enlarging already existing factory or plant departments and areas. The special challenge in this case is that ongoing production operations have to be maintained without any interruption. To accomplish this, we develop detailed plans for the successive redesign stages and the order in which operations are moved, and undertake the planning, supervision, monitoring and project management for the relocation.

Reorganisation and optimisation of existing plants and factories

Although it doesn’t happen often, companies sometimes have the opportunity to realise their concepts from scratch within the scope of a greenfield project. Large inventories, long throughput times, inadequate service levels, inefficient material flows, etc. frequently necessitate reorganisation and optimisation of existing plants or the departments that are affected. The key to success here is to pinpoint the actual causes of the deficits and then define the next project steps on that basis. We conduct analyses for the purpose of identifying and mapping strengths and weaknesses, and we detect and evaluate potentials for improvement as a basis for developing solutions. We use this basis as a foundation for formulating the project and goal definition for a single, or if applicable, several projects with the aim of leveraging every potential, and then work together with you to plan and implement the projects.

Site structure planning

On the basis of your future planning, we sit down with you and create a sustainable and feasible concept for developing your site. In a first step, we develop a space concept, based on your space requirements, for all production and departments, analyse material flow relationships, and then define the stages needed to realise a complete expansion of the location. This process ensures that investments as well as any subsequent changes to the factory or plant are aligned with the defined concept. Site structure planning is expedient both for newly built factories or plants and for existing ones. We offer this service as a standalone project or as a component in new construction, expansion and renovation projects.
