Airbus

Aerospace technology

Hamburg, Germany, is home to the headquarters of Airbus Deutschland GmbH, and with over 11,000 employees, it is the largest Airbus location in Germany. Short-, medium- and long-haul aircraft are also fitted and equipped at the plant. Metroplan has been implementing extensive logistics optimisation measures for Airbus for more than 10 years.

We are proud of:

  • Optimisation and centralisation of the site logistics for supplying the production areas at the Hamburg Finkenwerder plant for various aircraft types: specification of the forms of delivery, such as direct, kit deliveries, free stock supply and deliveries from stock, as well as supplying the assembly workstations.

  • Outsourcing of the production supply and disposal for all aircraft types through the Material Management Centre and the Cabin Equipment Centre for the Finkenwerder plant: preparation of the tender process; supervision of contract awards to service providers; supervision of the ramp-up and start-up phase of the service providers for both warehouses

  • Optimisation and harmonisation of the processes for planning and controlling the procurement of production materials, machinery, equipment, systems and maintenance measures following changes in the structural organisation, as well as compilation and preparation of the SAP requirement specifications for the investment planning processes as the basis for procurement

  • General planning for the Airport Support and Service Centre (ASSC) in order to centralise various service functions such as ground support, fire service, crew facilities and motor pool as part of the plant restructuring; preparation and supervision of the tender process; monitoring of the realisation of the building

  • Optimisation of the warehousing processes at the central spare parts warehouse in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel for supplying spare parts to Airbus locations, including definition of the current and target processes; usage concepts for the existing infrastructure as well as monitoring and supervision of the implementation

  • Outsourcing of the warehousing processes at the central spare parts warehouse in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel for supplying spare parts worldwide, including definition of the scope of outsourcing; preparation and compilation of the tender documents; supervision of the contract award to a service provider; monitoring and supervision of the start-up phase of the service provider during ongoing production operations

  • Warehouse planning and tender for the warehouse equipment for the decentralised spare parts warehouse in Dubai; preparation and compilation of the tender documents for outsourcing the warehousing processes; supervision of the contract award to a warehouse operator

  • Optimisation of the logistics and layout planning; tender for the warehouse equipment for the warehouse in Tianjiin, China, for supplying the final assembly line; interface management for coordinating the construction requirements associated with the warehouse equipment and technology
